Here is a funny thought, is it possible to evade a torpedo or torpedoes with the use of NO countermeasures? I remember in some movies(and yes I know it is a "movie") but is it possible? :-?

Yeah... that's the preferred way of doing it.

In general, if you are counting on the CM's you are in a bad spot. The best bet is clear datum before the torpedo can get anywhere near aquiring you.

That's assuming you are using LWAMI.

Of course, if you play with the stock game and torpedoes exploding on CMs, which is ridiculous, you just have to set course 180 and hope the other guy didn't fire more torpedoes than you have CM's.

You can always turn twards the torpedo and try to close the distance before it can arm.

In a up close knife fight it can save your butt. I know its saved mine in a MP game or two.

It is possible. It's also possible for a shrewd player to make it impossible or unlikely for you to pull it off, by a smart choice of torpedo presets.
