I just posted a new version at

http://www.gcblue.com/files/install_gcb_082dev.exe

This version might fix some of the graphics glitches seen in 0.8.1. This version also has some 3D shader experimentation which can be toggled on/off in the options screen.

Great game!!

Keep up the good work, seems that when finished will not have to envy nothing to Harpoon and/or Fleet Command

Two questions:

- Will the game have offline single missions and camapigns, or you will focus on multiplayer?

- Are you planning to make a Linux version?

Thanks

according to http://www.gcblue.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=109 Simulation enhancements and Missions and database content have the priority at the moment.

you can do both, every mission you can play on any side, single player and multiplayer.

yes, linux version is planned.

of course people are always welcome.

How sophisticated is the sonar model right now ?

It's very simple in the release version--e.g propagation uses spherical spreading with no sound velocity profile. There is some code that hasn't been integrated yet for transmission loss calculations with varying SVP using ray tracing. Hopefully that will be merged in soon.

ps: i hope your project runs fine.

Ray tracing ? :hmm:

This sounds cool. How is this supposed to work ?

Kinda.

basically approximate sound at point A with a number of rays, trace the rays with snell's law, and estimate ray density at point B to get transmission loss

good reference is Urick "Principles of Underwater Sound"

a nice overview i just found Fundamentals of Naval Weapons Systems

Is this from that book you have mentioned ?

How do this snell law work ?

good reference is Urick "Principles of Underwater Sound"

Great. Do you have this book ?

a nice overview i just found Fundamentals of Naval Weapons Systems
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/navy/docs/fun/index.html

That was actualy oneof my main sources, but it's rather basic. I need a comprehensive source that treats all relevant aspects in depth.

Great. Do you have this book ? i have the infos from dewitt, he is the project leader of gcb. maybe you want to get into direct contact with him. http://www.gcblue.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2

i just asked him if he has the book.

Introduction

MB-System is an open source software package for the processing and display of bathymetry and backscatter imagery data derived from multibeam, interferometry, and sidescan sonars. The source code for MB-System is freely available (for free) by anonymous ftp (including "point and click" access through these web pages). A complete description is provided in web pages accessed through links below.

MB-System was originally developed at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University (L-DEO) and is now a collaborative effort between the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and L-DEO. The National Science Foundation has provided the primary support for MB-System development since 1993. The Packard Foundation has provided significant support through MBARI since 1998. Additional support has derived from SeaBeam Instruments (1994-1997), NOAA (2002-2004), and others. maybe one of the best pages about sonar.

i just asked him if he has the book.

I guess you have a better connection to him. Do you think you could arrange the index of this book from him ?

I look also in a few other books but since they are all so expensive i would like to avoid to buy books that overlap to much.

Latest build is at

http://www.gcblue.com/files/install_gcb_083dev_20060422.exe

- Added lat/lon lines back
- Changed zoom behavior to use hooked unit as center of zoom
- Added a feature to hit 'r' to bring up a range circle centered on the hooked unit/track.
- Added "Airfield stores" to Hermes to experiment with
- SetUnitLauncherItem should now work with aircraft within airfield and carrier objects
