** Crosspostd at SimHQ.com, but I figure, that this sim in-progress needs as much attention as it can get :) **

Hello everyone! Glad to see that there's tanksim forum here now, as Neals site has a huge following, and exposure to this new sim is important to the devs and producer. That's why I am posting this here, too:

It's my great pleasure to show you the first, authentic 3D Model shots of a new, not yet announced WW2 Tank Sim due out in Late 2006.
We all have been waiting for THAT ONE hard-core WW2 Tank Sim since "Panzer Elite", and this one is going to be "it".

I am in contact with the main-guy of the development team and would be happy to forward your thoughts, wishes and ideas to him.

Here are the first 3D-Model-Shots of that sim; please don't judge the textures, as they're a just placeholder...

And please don't forget that this is still a "work in progress".

Another set of images... consider them material to drool over - esp. for those of you that like to be inside the machine. The devs told me that 3 Crew Positions will be accessible and fully 3D animated. ;)

Rember: Images are "work-in-progress" and don't represent the quality of the final game!

I know that there are a lot of people here that are in desperate need for a WWII tanksim.

Welcome aboard, btw, rrhode. Keep us informed. You have any ties to the developer? i ask because "the devs told me".

Oouch, and any word on wether it comes with or without Starforce?

Yes - I am in contact with the devs and the producer. So I will try to keep you posted.

Starforce? Don't really know, as the Sim is only in pre-alpha currently....

Just asked the producer of the Sim about Starforce, and he said that this will solely and only depend on the publisher, not the devs nor the producer... :)

So let's hope that a publisher that doesn't use Starforce will pick up the game once it is ready for shipping.... ;)

That isn't looking so bad
The both t34 might need to a short spare track up the front and some dig en rope gear at the sides. (i guess it will come in a later stage)

Actually i'm more curious for in game footage video's

Question for rrohde, will there be other units in the game, in particular infantry, bunkers, artillery, mgs, and "shudder" aircraft and antitank guns? Don't forget most tanks in WWII actually were used against infantry and mgs and were often countered or slowed down by anti-tank guns.

I forgot to mention that I am under a NDA, so my answers will be brief - hope you understand!

- Infantery will be modelled; to what extend, I don't know yet.
- MG nests I *assume* will be part of the infantery. Not sure
- Planes? I think so. That's all I can say.
- AT Guns? Prolly the same as with the MG nests.

I will keep you posted as more information becomes available to me.

My talking.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start any kind of initiative in tank forums and have people sign any form of petition to make the publisher aware of how many customers he will loose when he is using SF.

It's up to you, guys. Make yourself heared!

The developer of SBP had started an open debate in public in august and september, to see people's reactions to various suggested copy protections. The dongle received most sympathy, while SF received almost none.

Sorry for the long delay, but apparantly the devs didn't have anything to show until now. And even now it's "just" another 3D Model, this time a Su-85:

(I had to increase the brightness-level a tad, as the screenshots were taken with a dark monitor-setting.)

After looking at the pics of R/L and CG tank innards, I cant see ANY reason why a person would want to be inside one of these things during WWII!!!!!!

Cramped, smelly, hot or cold, no where to go when hit............definitely a death trap.

What would be cool would be an Africa Korp campaign!!!!!!!

German, Eye-tie, and Brit tanks running across the desert.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....good.

Like T-72 Balkans on Fire. It doesn't look too bad, the graphics are at least (exaggerating down a bit) as good as SBP, but the physics are way, WAY far behind SBP. And I'll take SBP physics over T-72 graphics anytime.

Agreed. Graphics are important, I want to see as much realism as possible. But physics and gameplay cannot be neglected. I would like both.

While we all wait on the official announcement, the devs allowed me to post some shots of another vehicle - a StuG:

They said, that in the initial release of the game it won't be drivable (thus AI), but hinted that with a possible add-on/expansion that might change... :)

Here we go (as always - WORK IN PROGRESS):

Hello all,

Well I just upped my forum membership by a factor of one on the basis of this thread. If its survives the alpha stages and makes it to the shelves as a 'proper' simulation then you have at least one garunteed unit sold.

Oh yeah and thanks to the guy's from the SteelBeast's chat that pointed me over here!

Many thanks for info rrohde

And for the Devs

WOW, looks great so far. Was hoping for US stuff like Shermans, Pershings, tank destroyers and dare I say it M3 Lees and Stuarts? Yeah, I like US stuff. After all we did win (didn't we?) Anyway the shots you posted look fantastic. The option to add a little "grafitti" to the tank hulls would be nice. This tank simulation really looks nice, but it would even be better if the German Panther G was modeled in this as it was also in production at this time and took part in numerous battles at Kursk. I don't know if are just trying to model two of the main tanks that was used but the Panther G and the Panzer IV H were heavily used at this time. Will any of these units be in the game or not. I know the King Tiger may not of been in this but the other two Tanks should be in this also.
Just wondering what others think?
I think your modeling of the tanks you have made is outstanding and the modeling of the country side also. Looking for a realistic simulation and realistic gunnery and physic models of the tanks in the game. U-5000

Would the devs consider selling this technology to WWIIOL or accept to be hired to re-model all tank interiors with this level of quality?

Well, maybe it's best to wait before making that suggestion. Who knows if this will cripple my PC...

Not to worry. Found some news about it over at good old Wargamer site. It's still on but delayed as per the following: http://www.wargamer.com/news/news.asp?nid=5375

Thanks goodness for that.
