Hi,

Notice that when you have a couple of sonobuoys in water, the helicopter is doing some processing as well as yourself with monitoring the buoys.

The helicopter will report on link the sub when I guess you have sufficient (and close) buoys near the target. When an helicopter in the air and buoys in the water then not so much need of TMA for the FFG.

Noticed too that since I put the Auto TMA, I don't hear the ''Buoy X is hot". I can see the red dot but don't hear it. Need to do some more testing on that.

No need to spend time on testing this. Unless I have totally missed something the only time I heard "Buoy X is Hot" was when I played MP and another human player in the Helo or P3 said it himself. To my knowledge there is no such audio report when you play.

In my case that was in the FFG

Anybody else got the audio for this?

I am not crazy

I remember hearing it once along time ago, I'm not sure what the circumstances were.

However, if there is a buoy field present, especially a robust buoy field with the contact showing up on more than one buoy and allowing for triangulation, the AI platforms do an EXCELLENT job of detecting, tracking, and resolving contacts and placing them on the link if there are AI platforms around that are capable of processing buoy data and they are in range.

This is especially helpful when you are in the P-3 and lay 50+ buoys.

Yes, I have received it playing both P-3 and FFG.

If you have the Acustic AutoCrew on you will recive the "Buoy on CHannel X is hot" IIRC.

Actually I didn't have the Acoustic Autocrew On.
The only one that I had was the CM Autocrew on

I think this is only true of DICASS. I can't say I've ever seen AI promote a link from passive buoys. Weirder yet, most of the times AI promotes a DICASS contact, it is right after I switch the mode of the buoy to 'active.' :88)

On the FFG you receive this message for your own buoys or the helo ones provided you have Acustic Auto crew ON. I think the same goes fo the P-3 although not 100% sure now, but 100% sure on the FFG

Definately happens with passive buoys. But I think it will only happen if you have a fairly good buoy field so that the contact can be triangulated and possibly IDented. The AI will not link bearing only contacts. Also, the platform has to be in range to the buoys.
