View Full Version : Logging into Subsim difficult/ server issues 12/10/05

For me, Subsim stops working at the exact same time, every night...

2:00AM (US Pacific Standard Time)

I can't post, read posts, sign in, or even visit the site. And now more than ever, subsim is beginning to have more "blackout" times. There are other times during the day that I cannot go on.

Is anyone else having problems, or is it just me? Try and give an approximate "blackout" time if your problem is recurring at the same time everyday.

Same thing.

I'm assuming just temporary server maintenance or downtime. Certainly a bummer, but what can you do?

/tinfoil hat theory #1

Somebody who frequents here has a nasty worm they dont know about that launches a DOS attack.

Only happends when they turn on their computer.

/tinfoil hat theory #2

Someone at X1 software has a Friend doing a favor for him and is hitting subsim with a DOS attack.

But at the same time every 24 hours?

That's highly unlikely, unless the person has a ritual habit of visiting subsim at the same time everyday.

But it could explain the random "downtimes"...

shouldnt this be moved to genral topics

As it seems to affect everyone on all of the forums (including this one) I am inclined to leave it here.

What makes me think its a DOS attack is one time when i couldnt access the site,i tried a few things. I couldl ping it and get a response back on ping times. I could run a tracert on it and i didnt have any packet loss at the whole route. Packets went all the way to subsims servers without a problem.

The site simply was not responding to any requests. Only reason it would do that i figure, is because its overloaded with them.

But this is all conjecture. All they have to do is check their traffic logs and they'll know if they're getting slammed or not.

So far it seems to have helped, the forum speed is back to normal. Now we'll see about the long term performance.

Same problem again for me today, Neal.

Monday, Dec 12. Florida.
Forum was not accessable from noon to 6 PM USA EST. I've been at the computer the whole time, checking every 30 minutes or so.

Not sure what gives. Thought you better know.

Neal and John, what's up with logging in to the site? I have to log in every time even with "remember me" checked. It's just a pain is all, and wondering if there's a fix. Yes Cookies are enabled.

S! and have a Merry Christmas everyone. See you all when I return from my Clark Griswold "Christmas Vacation". ;) LOL

Why do I keep getting this error message?

phpBB : Critical Error

Error creating new session

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1114 The table 'phpbb_sessions' is full

INSERT INTO phpbb_sessions (session_id, session_user_id, session_start, session_time, session_ip, session_page, session_logged_in, session_admin) VALUES ('3abdf4383d607488befdc300c7a616a6', 2609, 1134760596, 1134760596, '43249944', 0, 1, 0)

:) Yes, same problem here as well.

Normally a couple of reloads will be enough to get to the forum.

I have had these error messages for ages. Think it is because there are too many connections to the forum, not sure though.
