The elections in Norway are through, and the red-green side won with 87 representatives in the parlament vs. 82 to the center-right. Let's hope that the changes won't be to radical dispite the fact that the socialist party is in gouverment. Change is good, but not to quickly. And best of all, perhaps finally we will get a grip in our military economics, so that we don't have to ground our navy again.

Hey the military budget has been reduced alot during the conservative rule. And they even grounded the navy due to the lack of economic controll in the ARMY!

The socialist want's a bigger navy to defend norways interests in the north sea. This will probably end up in reduced international engagements.

In Finland there is traditionally a right wing majority but they cant never form a goverment or name a presidential candidate together :damn: The socialists play them like they want and are allways in the goverment. They should really pull their s**t together.Finland isnt in the NATO and our wartime army is 400.000 but the defence budget is only 1,3% of the GDB when it should be atleast 2,0% to keep it up.The Air Force and Navy are in a tight spot with these oil prices.

Glad to hear the elections are finally over. In the US they never end. You are right about change being good, but not to quickly is even better. Many Americans have a hard time with change.

According to some Americans (mainly the undereducated), we are now going to give a socialist government a try. Even though many Americans (the same group) don't understand the difference between socialism and communism, they think we just sold our souls to the state.

The smarter ones know the truth. We'll end up paying a boatload of money for more bloated bureaucracy, like a national health care system. Then again, it's probably better than what we have now, a society that actually understands the term "medical bankruptcy".

I hope Norway survives and thrives in the future. Only time will tell.
