Question: Bombardment Mission

So a lone destroyer causes the campaign map go into battle mode while the HSF is on a bombardment mission. So instead of inflicting damage automatically -- I now have to manage the mission it looks manually? What targets should the fleet target? All I see is towers and guns on that will do damage to my fleet! Or do I chase off the lone ship and have the campaign continue to execute the mission, which I do not think happened when the day was over ....

Bombardment missions cannot be accomplished manually. It's an event that takes place in the campaign when the fleet reaches the bombardment waypoint on the strategic map. Your best bet here is to kill the destroyer, exit the battle, and hope that the fleet passes the bombardment waypoint in the campaign map before another contact appears and a battle is initiated.
