I've cycled through all the skins, logged in and out a couple times, closed the browser, cleared temp files and cookies, still... nothing. I can see the 2009 ones for last year's honorees, as always, but that's it. Don't see the new ones when I'm logged out either.

The only thing that I can think of is that it might be due to you being behind a firewall at work, and so it might not be updating. But, then you can see everything else, so I really don't know. Calling resident interweb experts!

Just saw this... let's just say that the idea of my employers setting up and maintaining a firewall is :rotfl2:

I spent an entire day last week reformatting a drive and reinstalling Windows, drivers, etc. from scratch on my boss's laptop because she got the same system-destroying virus on it that killed her kid's laptop.

They share a wireless home network and had no AV protection on any of their computers.

Including the one she also uses for work, which also has access to our office network. No real "security" on it at all except what came free with Windows, running at whatever the default settings were.

So, yeah, I don't think it's some fancy firewall they set up to keep us from watching porn at the office. :O:

Initially, I could only see Tak's award on his 1st post on this page, I refreshed and then his next post displayed the award.

Yes, with no problems since they were posted a year ago. As Darkfish pointed out, the image for last year's badge is linked to by a URL that refers to the actual image, like most any other picture posted in the forums:

This year's badge is linked to by a URL referring to a php page, containing an image in a particular album:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/picture.php?albumid=165&pictureid=3548

If I click on the link to the "image" I get a blank white browser window. If I try to access the album it's in at

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/album.php?albumid=165

I get a vBulletin Message saying "Invalid Album specified." From my end, it looks like a link to a picture that doesn't exist and/or an album that doesn't exist in the places they are supposed to be. Obviously that's not the case if those links work for some people but not for others.

That's why I was hoping someone could post the URL of the image itself, a la last year's badge, because sometimes if I can't see a picture in the forums but go to its URL and view it there, it will be viewable in the forums when I come back to them.

Oh, I have tried logging out and logging in, refreshing pages, closing my browser, cleaning out temp files/cookies, running Disk Cleanup to clear out any and all junk/temp files, looking at the forums while logged out, restarting my computer.... :doh:

One of the reasons I enjoy being a part of these awards is that it leads me to read and essentially "meet" people I wouldn't otherwise. I feel as though I read quite a bit of what is posted here but there is so much more.

Flakmonkey is our only consecutive award winner. Ironically, while I was vaguely aware of his name prior to the 2009 awards, I've paid more attention to his contributions this year as a result. Amongst other things, that's part of my hope with this - that we can all view and appreciate the contributions of members who otherwise don't travel in our "circles", as it were.

That diversity, a pure one merely of ideas and interests, is what makes the Subsim community exceptional in my not-so-humble opinion.

There were quite a few nominations for each category but there could obviously only be one winner.

Choosing a winner was extremely hard (in each category) and all those nominated were IMHO worthy of winning....but I guess you realise this.
