I think only the red is too bright.
In real the red lights are very low and dark this is for nightseeing.
But the rest is great.

I just tried this mod....
OH MY GOD....... So beautiful.. Sunsets are amazing behind the clouds, and the moon too.. Now the clouds actually appear darker when the sun / moon is behind it, rather than being as white as other clouds that recieve sunlight from an angle.

Amazing job. Maby the godrays are a BIT too long, they kinda flicker off when you pan your camera away from the sun, maby have them end at the exact distance where the camera "turns them off"?

capthelm, can i make a mod request? :P
U see, i've got all the settings at max, but in the sub interiors it is laggy like hell due to the dynamic shadows (which doesnt add that much inside anyway).

However outside, the dynamic shadows are absolutely beautiful (especially combined with these light rays), without too much fps hit.
Watching the ship shadows roll across the sea, with the light rays pretty much "defining" the shadows in mid-air, is really really pretty.

Now, i tried tweaking the shadows.cfg file in the interior values, but even if i turned the far clip to 0.0 and such, the framerate drop was still there.
Is there a chance someone could make a mod which completely disables the dynamic shadows inside the sub, with the same framerates as if it was turned off in the options, but leaves them on for the exterior / conning tower?

Thanks :salute:

edit: almost forgot, which of the settings in this mod changes the length of the light rays? I'd like to make them like 5% shorter :)
Also, that value, Sun Multiplier, couldnt that further fix the white-golfball syndrome? Unless it multiplies the actual sunlight on the objects :/

hello!

does all this tweaks in lights.cfg file make a huge impact in terms of stutter in sh5? cos everyone is complaining about the laggyness in sub interior ,etc

alright i have an asus g1s and the only tweak i applied was the pre-rendered frames to 1 in nvidia panel and forcing triple buffer+ vsinc (it worked in BAD COMPANY 2 at least)

i WILL test ur mod now, but can u do something about the bloom, grainy effect and hdr to BOOST the game?

thank u

Hey m8, turn off dynamic shadows (thats all the shadow setting does).
I know they look nice but, as you said in the interiors they SUCK up framerate like nuts, i think its because they draw at a way too far distance (in rooms you cant even see yet), thats why the framerate goes up when closing a door (preventing those shadows from drawing).

This mod doesnt change the framerate at all, it just changes how the game renders these effects, they are always on without the mod anyway, just less pronounced :)

this file controls mainly lighting and bloom outside and inside the uboat

never messed with shadows.

nvidia users are suffering frame rates with shadows, its a hard code issue inside the uboat in terms of frame rates, this is somthing that the dev team need to address guys.
only temp fix for now is disable dynamic shadowing.

for those who where positive about my mods ,.. thx.

enjoy them.

Great work on the mod. The ray density is a little too much for my liking so I'm going to tweak that setting a little.

It is very, very easy to make this JGSME ready. Just make your own folder in the JGSME "mods" folder called something like "Capthelms_Lighting_Mod" or similar and copy the "data" folder from Cap's mod into it. Run JGSME and install. Please note that I'm at work so I can't check that my instructions are 100%! Use with caution!

This is incorrect, both mods change Lights.cfg and conflict.

I have not tested in game to see how this affects the No Damn Bubbles, No Damn Halo Mod.

McHibbins
03-09-10, 05:21 PM
Both mods disable the halo effects on crewmembers or installations. They tweaked the same file in the same way. JSGME tell u that thereīs a conflict because of the same file but these conflict will not affect your gameplay.

Edit:

Original :

[InteractiveObjectsHighlight]
Spread=2
Blend=0.5
ColorR=0.58
ColorG=0.47
ColorB=0.23
.
.
.
.
.

Both mods :

[InteractiveObjectsHighlight]
Spread=0
Blend=0
ColorR=0.58
ColorG=0.47
ColorB=0.23

File : data/cfg/Lights

As u see, in both mods the only tweak is Spread+Blend was set to 0

So, a conflict but no problem

no problems for me i think this mod theres a texture removal thats all.
dont see the point of the lights cfg editing though? never spotted crew glow on this?

its the texture i think thats been dimmed down to transparent ,renamed or removed.

Is it a feature for used with DX10 and DX11 only?

Otherwise, as I have all options on full, but shadows disabled will that effect the mod?

In this gallery I made from PC game Bird of Prey you can see how nice is the Volumetric Light Scattering shader they use.

Maybe some tweaks can make the effect as smooooooth as in BoP.

Light.Cfg file does not control day morning noon or night.

no individual control over time of day how much lighting you want.

make do with what it is. or simply go back to bland stock sh5 no lighting.

nighttime moon looks good to me. on my screen.

Thereīs really no problem to make it compatible.
Just create a Folder and name it what you want, for example "Lighting mod",
put the data file in it and all together in the Mod-file....thatīs it

Looks lovely Cap, and yes on the red lights. In actual use they were only switched to red a few min. before sufacing at night to return bridge crew's nightsight after being in the well lit interior for some time and their pupils adjusted to that.
Other wise you still need white lights in order to see properly inside. What I wish is that one could manually switch between red and white to what ever the situation was instead of them being red full time at night.

Travel to northern norway, speed up til its in the middle of the day on calm blue seas. Be amazed.

The sun looks so incredibly bright and soft so far north, its beautiful =)
It almost makes me think that the "golf-ball" syndrome isnt really a driver issue, but rather something coded on purpose in the atlantic / mediterranean environments.

Thanks!!!!!!

I have a request however, I would like to ask to have the option to have the external lighting effects without the submarine internal lighting effects.

I like to use AliWhithe interiors MOD with the accurate interior colours but with MOD enhanced interior lighting , it is way too much light inside.

Having the posibiulity of having just the External light effects would be just wonderful.

Thanks!!

Same as Furia here, i mentioned earlier about this, like this mod but with the white interior its a bit overpowering. Would be a nice compromise to remove effects from interior for those of us that use Ailwhite interior mod.

Hey guys, to just get the external lighting....I did this and it works great.

Just open up the mod. Inside you will find the files, just delete the ones under internal lighting or what ever it is named. Once you see what is in there it is kind of obvious to which ones you erase. Their cfg files I think, just use your notepad to open them.

Once again, I did it and worked just fine. Looks realy good while climbing the ladder out of the conning tower, realy makes you feel that your outside.
