Post in this thread and/or start a new thread discussing how you plan to arrive at the meet in Copenhagen. Are you driving? Would you be interested in picking up some Americans/Canadians in Hamburg for the ride? Will you be attending the Laboe U-995 activity?

I cant afford to hire a car so I need to rely on someone to carpool with from the airport. :-?

You won't need a car, the airport is only 5 miles from the hotel. McBeck will supply us with metro info.

We have targeted the Hotel CABINN City as our barracks. The rates are on the Meeting activity page. We are not ready to book rooms yet, stand by for that in a few weeks.

Here is a the direct route from the airport to the Hotel. (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Terminalgade&daddr=Amager+Landevej+to:Mitchellsgade+14+-+1568+Copenhagen&geocode=Fb3UUAMdmv3AAA%3BFZj0UAMdkozAAA%3B&hl=en&mra=ls&via=1&sll=55.650377,12.609558&sspn=0.069544,0.222473&ie=UTF8&ll=55.650958,12.609386&spn=0.069543,0.222473&z=13)

As you can see, it's a short taxi ride, and metro is available.

If not something gets in my way, I will show up.
I would take a car and could pick up 4 people.
U 995, yes, never been there.

Just an idea:
Nealito and all the others who take the long trip across the big pond:

If anybody is planning to prolong his stay, because who knows, when you will make it to Europe again, feel free to contact me.
Especially Eastern Europe is an interesting place to go now after the fall of the iron curtain because everything is still in change.

So why not visit places like Berlin, Prague or Warsaw, too, while you are here?

An example: There are very cheap flights from Dortmund to Warsaw, shuttles for the Polish workers in Germany to fly home over the week-end. I could drop you off at the Dortmund airport.

For those, who probably feel the pioneering spirit of their ancestors:
I met quite a few young Americans in Warsaw who permanently live there as English teachers, pub owners, event/tourist managers, journalists for English speaking newspapers etc. You could become part of the network of Americans abroad, too.

Thanks, Dan, I would love to have a good stay and spend some time there. I'm not sure if I can take more than 1 week, my school and work schedule is pretty tight. Perhaps some people attending will take the extra time.

I'm also thinking of taking a ferry to Kiel because the prices seems to be attractive: http://www.balttours.lt/?en=1133798229

But according to time tables I would be at Kiel at 15:00 o'clock afternoon. Hopefully I could meet you there at Laboe somehow ?

Airfares are always pretty reasonable from here, but I'm not a confirmed show yet. If any other Brit members are flying in, let me know. I could wait up at Copenhagen and take the Metro with you (to make sure we dont get lost :haha:)

... my school and work schedule is pretty tight.

Goodness, you still go to school!? :o

Seriously now, I'm coming from Holland by car so I could pick up one or two fellow captains on the way over there. They will need to be brave lads (and not too big either) since I'm still driving that old '66 Volvo. I'm not sure yet where Hamburg is on my route to Kiel/Copenhagen but if it's somewhere along the imaginable route you can book my ride as a cab for 2 seats. Again, this could be a long ride for those in the back so be sure you're up for it.

I plan to arrive on the 15th Sep. by flight from Hamburg. I don't know yet the arrival time because I can fly several times a day to Copenhagen.

I'll take the car and drive to Laboe from Wilhelmshaven via Oldenburg, Bremen, Hamburg and Kiel - an estimated 4 hours drive.

To Copenhagen i take the Puttgarden-Rödby ferry.

I'm not sure yet where Hamburg is on my route to Kiel/Copenhagen ...

Found it! :D If I wanted to not get to Hamburg it would mean driving even more km's than are already needed, so yes, I have two seats available for the above mentioned brave captains. ;)

You can't miss Hamburg, that's the place where you will stand in the traffic jam in front of the Elbe tunnel :timeout:

Don't worry, there will be plenty of Americans there to help you get around :shucks:

I´m coming from Cologne, Germany and will be arriving with my car on Thursday Sept. 16 in Laboe. I can pick up three people comfortably and twenty gallons of german beer, if somebody is interested in this :)

Sorry for my English and all the best.

Michael

Will arrive and stay at Kiel on september 15 by ferry (with car hopefully) for a couple of days. However it will be a final destination for me, since I'm not planing to go to Copenhagen. See you at Laboe.
