First a little explanation:

As everyone is working on ocean I figured that mods based on surface combat lack from real naval warfare more than BB against BB. So I decided to work to improve in that way. For this I'm doing land based 3d objects.

My Objectives are (from a naval point of view):
1. Improve costal defense gameplay (and looks).
2. Give real objectives to Cruisers: Suport landings cleaning beaches.
and to submarines: targets to spy.
3. Add dificult when doing repairs: posibility to being spoted and reported by moving land units everywhere.
4. And finally the impresion you are in a war when you aproach to land: we have empty beaches after landings, we have no D-day signals, no sound of firearms and distant bombings, no flashes at night.

Well, that are purpouses. There's the PC capacity to render. Sure I'll can't do everything, but I can do some for others to finish. At the moment I'm just modeling
trying to keep the lowest posible poly count. Would be fine to count with some good mappers. Textures are not my hard point.

Soooo... My questions are technic:

1. When doing a coastal batery, in the dat file are some models. The base, the barrel and the gun. I supose is because each one moves separately. Is it correct?
The animation is inside the dat within the 3d model or inside the file only there are meshes and positions for each mesh?

2. The "people" who man the guns must be placed from the dat file or have to be dummies inside the 3d file?

3. Can damage models be applied without a mesh. Only changing texture on some spots or they require always a damage mesh?

4. Inside the game editor. Placed objects can dig the surface when placed on the groung or they always melt with the ground?

Thanks for all. Exquisite information.

I used fake ground on the bunker cause I suspected there was no option to dig, but anyway I wanted to be sure.

Note: Right now I'm working on objects for "the atlantik wall". The first battery is like those in Longues-sur-mer, the same as the bunker type M272. The last picture will become a 38cm Gun like those in Hanstholm II, covering the path between denmark and norway (still can be seen its remains with google maps. Allies never tried that path). :know:
