... is available since today. German version is 313 MB.

Google lets you find a download site easily.

Post experiences and problems here!

Reports said that on many system there are speed gains of around 10% (compared to XP-SP2). Reports also say that it is more than twice as fast as Vista.

I will give it a week or two and monitor the web for feedback before downloading and installing myself.

Looks like there is one small bug and the release is delayed. I have seen several new reports with in the past two hours.

Has been available for 3 days now from certain sources.......the jury is still out. I wouldn't install it until feedback is gathered.

AFAIK its only got existing updates rolled into one big patch so you dont spend forever downloading stuff. Or isthere a load of fixes in there?

As far as I know theres really not anything big for SP3, as Micro$oft is going to get XP off the shelves as soon as it can. Although I have heard its going to stick around for netbooks and Vista Business/Ultimate downgrades. Sad that they won't keep it in the Retail/OEM channels but there it is. go to www.saveXP.com and sign the petition if you think that XP should stay around.

Poking around I have seen some mention of third party software inclusions which sound as if they track net use or some such. I understand those items will be optional, so care wil need to be taken during the installation proceadure.

Meanwhile you can find info on MS having found literally in the very last second a serious incompatability issue of SP3 for XP and SP1 for Vista regarding something that is called RMS. No matter what, it is serious enough that on planned release date they blocked any download and started to implement web filters that should prevent the download of SP3 from other sources. They have not released a new date for SP3, it could be several weeks.

It is strongly recommended by MS not to install the SP3 "official" (=non-Beta) versions of SP3 for XP.

I think you will get it via a Windows Update that your computer probably has scheduled to do automatically. At least this is how I read the release will start appearing.
