XBT question

Just a few questions about XBTs:

a. Does it give a TIW to other subs when launched?
b. The manual states that it first goes surface and then begins descending. Can it be detected on the surface?
c. Any specific tactics in their use?
d. Any sneaky (hehehe) tactics in their use?
e. (out of topic) Anyone else has noticed that the USNI has the TB-23 as part of the Seawolf and the TB-29 as part of the 688?

XBT simply refreshes SSP graph. Any other effects are not simulated.
